Rob Notman is the Owner and President of TAB Stafford which is the regional presence of The Alternative Board International, an international franchise now in 25 countries. He’s a TAB-certified facilitator and coach. He’s been a member of our community for 20 years including volunteering with local non-profits including SERVE, Stafford Junction, and the ASK Foundation.
Rob believes that owners of privately held businesses are regularly challenged to meet the day-to-day demands of running their businesses and all too rarely get to spend quality time thinking strategically about their business. He became involved with The Alternative Board because of his passion to help business owners work “on”, not just “in” their businesses and to ultimately help them fulfill their own visions of success – both business and personal.
Rob was born and raised, did his undergraduate degree, and started his professional career in California as an engineer working on Naval shipboard power and propulsion systems. He went on to earn an e-MBA and did graduate work in strategy and marketing at the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business.
Prior to starting TAB Stafford in 2017, he spent just over 30 years with a large defense contractor where he started as a mechanical engineer working on development, manufacturing, testing, and field support of large, complex equipment and systems. He entered leadership and management ranks early on and rose through those ranks in a variety of positions which included:
– Program Management of programs up to $300M in value
– Marketing and Business Development Leadership for three major product areas
– Business Unit Management – P&L and people management of large, diverse groups of employees. His Business Unit grew from $ 5M to $ 40M annual revenue during his tenure
About 11 years ago he left the large corporate environment for a new strategic challenge in a small technical and program management services company. In this time, he helped to take the company from a financial position of approximately 8% loss to 8% profit while increasing revenue almost 20% all in the midst of a very challenging market environment.
Nothing gives him greater pleasure professionally than tackling difficult business challenges! His breadth of experience has helped dozens of local businesses achieve greater success.
